Drive for one hour from Kampala to Entebbe Town then Nakiwogo landing site. From here you will have a ferry crossing to Kasanje landing site then continue for 20 minutes by road through a dusty road to Mabamba Swamp for your unforgettable birding trip.
Upon arrival at the area, you will meet with the local guide who will lead you to the motorized canoe boat. The shoebill storks are one of the most sought-after bird species within Mabamba Swamp and were originally referred to as “bad omen” among fishermen but are also tourists’ favorite species of birds. Other species of birds to see within the area are Papyrus gonolek, yellow-billed ducks, common and wood sandpiper, Blue-headed coucal, Malachite kingfisher, white-faced whistling ducks, Pied kingfisher, Common waxbill, African fish eagles, northern brown-throated weavers, African pygmy goose, Spur-winged Lapwing, Goliath herons, African jacana, Long-toed Lapwing, Blue-breasted bee-eater and Hammerkop among others.
