The 1-day Akagera National Park tour is one of Rwanda’s classic and most exciting short tours involving enjoying a full day in Akagera National Park, situated within the eastern side of Rwanda.
Akagera National Park extends for over 1122 square kilometers and is so far the only savannah National Park in the country. It is characterized by a number of ecosystems including papyrus wetlands, vast savannah plains, forest-fringed lakes and rolling hills hence making it one of the most scenic and diverse Protected Areas in the Continent.
This biodiversity-rich Conservation Area is a haven to the big five animals-lions, leopards, Rhinos, elephants, and buffaloes in addition to the Rothschild giraffes, hippos, spotted hyenas, Kobs, Topis, Oribis, Defassa waterbucks, bushbucks, elands, zebras, warthogs, and primates (especially olive baboons, bush babies, vervet monkeys as well as the black and white colobus monkeys). Akagera National Park can be visited all year round because the tourist activities can be conducted at any time of the year. Two seasons-dry and wet seasons are experienced in Akagera and Rwanda in general but the former (June, July, August, September, January, and February) are preferred for game viewing because most animals tend to converge around water drinking points or places with more vegetation.
